Wild Rift Championship in the Middle East

Wild Rift Championship in the Middle East!

Riot Games, in collaboration with Calyx, announced the launch of the first official Wild Rift tournament in the MENA region that will run for 7 consecutive months.

Wild Rift Championship in the Middle East!

The move by Riot Games follows the huge success of the League of Legends Arab Cup, as Riot wants to bring the unique experience that PC players loved in the Arab Cup to the mobile game Wild Rift.

The system of the new Rift Battle tournament is very similar to that of the Arab Cup, where registration for the first league will begin on June 24, 2021, and matches will start from July 1, 2021. It will extend for a period of seven months, and will be divided into two leagues, four cups, and a team that is finally crowned the region's champion.

A cash prize of $10,000 will be allocated to each tournament, the final winner will receive a prize of $20,000, and the participating nations will be divided into two regions; The Gulf Cooperation Council, Iraq (Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, and Iraq), the Levant and North Africa (Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine, Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria, and Libya). The league winner from each region will qualify for the Rift Battle Finals, two teams from each region will qualify from each region, and we will also see four teams from the four cups qualify, with eight teams participating in the finals.
Tariq Al Kafiri, Director of Esports in the Middle East and North Africa, said that the Middle East and North Africa is one of the strongest mobile gaming markets, so we seek to benefit from our success in the Arab League of Legends, and bring the same experience to mobile game players through Region. Al Kafiri also added that the Rift battle will help prepare the ground for future competitions in which the Middle East and North Africa region may achieve a broader presence in the global esports scene.

Riot Games spoke:

Part of our mission in the region is to provide players with different futuristic blueprints to deliver a competitive Wild Rift experience. Battle of The Rift is one of many products this year and we can't wait to see how our players react to it.

Calyx, recently acquired by Hockwood Games, is a Middle East esports production and organization company looking to build an esports presence in the MENA region.

The president of Hockwood Games spoke:

E-sports is a field that has experienced unprecedented growth over the past decade. The impressive growth on the global stage was evident as this field became one of the mainstays of the entertainment industry. With the rapid growth of esports in the MENA region, we intend to be at the forefront of developing its green field in the region.

The acquisition of Calyx is one of several moves Hockwood Games has made in its plans for the esports market in the Middle East and North Africa.

Then one of the founders of Calyx said:

We are very excited about this collaboration agreement with Riot Games in its first Wild Rift tournament. The MENA region is rapidly evolving towards a professional team and player base that the world must be aware of. With the recently concluded Calyx Dune Cup as part of the official BLAST Premier Tournament in CS:GO, we saw NASR sport represent the region on the entire world stage at the BLAST Premier Spring Showdown.
We are confident that Battle of the Rift will also be the cornerstone for players to achieve this global recognition.
